Senior Manager ALM
Role Purpose
Facilitate management of Asset Liability Management (ALM) related Balance Sheet risks for including oversight of ALM risks of other Middle East entities such as HSBC EGYPT and SABB. Implement ALM systems for RMM and local RMM of branches and subsidiaries. Work with Senior Finance & Balance Sheet Management (BSM) team in areas of Liquidity Management, Cash Flow Analysis, Transfer Pricing, Stress Tests, Economic Value of Equity (EVE), and various other ALM related balance sheet caps. Capital planning at HBME level including RWA growth by business
Main Responsibilities

• Provide regional support on key regional ALM analytics including participation in local ALCOs
Leadership & Teamwork
• Provide leadership support by fostering a proactive and open style of management with improved top-down and bottom-up communication.
• Contribute to ongoing development and enhancement of the ALM policies.
Operational Effectiveness & Control
• Ensure integrity of the ALM system and timely production of required information.
Key Challenges
The existing liquidity and credit crunch in markets world wide provides relevant backdrop to the need to have dedicated ALM team within Finance to provide focussed support to senior team in managing Balance Sheet risks such as Liquidity, Pricing and Returns, Economic Capital etc. Further, since HSBC Group only has limited experience in ALM related systems, the jobholder has to set up a core-team for implementation of ALM system with limited guidance from other HSBC regional sites. Besides, most of the required analysis are forward looking rather than reporting of historical performance. The jobholder has to use his problem solving skill, lateral thinking as well as his knowledge of ALM concepts to design and appropriately analyse for a wide range of users.
Skills
Experience & Qualifications
• A qualified accountant and / or MBA with over 10 years of working experience in large international financial institutions.
• A strong understanding of ALM concepts along with financial information of Group's banking systems.
• A strong team leader who is able to drive a team to work independently and meet tight deadlines under pressure.
• Experience in banking industry with a good understanding of local interbank markets.
• Excellent problem solving skill and lateral thinking.
