Senior Manager Corporate Credit & Risk
Background:
Assist Chief Risk Officer in formulating and communicating the Bank’s Credit Policy, provide strategic direction to corporate banking and manage HBME regional business growth & overall asset portfolio. Ensuring a return commensurate with the risk with the objective of maximizing return to the shareholders and maintaining the Group values and strategic imperatives. Ensuring the highest degree of corporate governance. Reporting line to Jordan Chief Risk Officer.
Main Responsibilities
-Manage the wholesale risk portfolio of Jordan and Ramallah countries:
- Credit Approvals, Monitoring and Governance
- Manage Loan Impairments below Plan
- Provide input to senior management and ALCO meetings including commentary in Reports.
-Track major developments in industry sectors and regional macro economic/political developments to identify and mitigate risks - focus on select sectors and countries as per portfolio assigned.
-Prepare reports that review the Bank's exposure to specific sectors / countries (largest exposures, high risk issues, forward looking strategy / tactics) :
-Adopt the policies, processes and systems that support Basel 2 / Equator Principles - Reputation Risk / IFRS - Financial / Reporting Risk / Operational Risk etc. in line with HBME / GMO policies
-Review and recommend guidelines and risk parameters within which credit business is booked and managed
-Analyze and Recommend / Approve / Restructure / Decline Credit Proposals in line with Guidelines and Group Governance
-Use experience and skills to enrich credit facilities extended and make them bankable through identification of risk mitigation and facility structuring.
Major Challenges
-Maintaining high HSBC Group risk standards in a competitive environment.
-Knowledge and Understanding of credit issues, complex product structures and industry / market developments including Structured Trade Finance, Project and Export Finance,
-Specialized skills drawn from experience in lending - Corporate Banking / Credit
-Being able to independently justify and defend unpopular decisions and negotiate with senior management and Business Heads so as to achieve the most optimal solution from both, the customer and the bank’s perspectives.

Skills & Qualifications
-Graduate or post graduate degree from a recognized university in Business administration, Finance or related field.
-Fluent in English (Arabic is a plus)
-Ability to effectively interact with senior management.
-Good interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
-Established financial and accounting acumen
-Demonstrated ability to assess risk trends both internally and externally.
